The transfer system transports fuel between the reactor building and the spent fuel pool in most PWR plants and some BWR plants. PaR Nuclear’s standard upender design uses a hydraulic center pivot upender to transition the fuel between horizontal and vertical positions. PaR Nuclear also supports cable-driven end pivot designs.
Safety
- Interlocks interact with other elements of the Fuel-handling System to ensure the correct sequential process
- Load weighing system prevents transfer cart hang-ups by detecting overload and underload conditions
- Initiation of transfer system from refueling machine console reduces need for independent control of the Transfer System
Reliability
- Latest hydraulic upender design successfully avoids valve leakage
- Redundant components reduce downtime in the event of a single-component failure
Efficiency
- FuelNet™ Controls
- Operation of equipment in automatic, semi-automatic and manual modes allows for appropriate operational mode for a given move
- Automatic controls optimize fuel movement rate
- Fuel-sequencing database file generates moves with minimal operator intervention
- High-speed cart and upender designs reduce time to move fuel
